Shamania Festival: Music

CRYSTAL YAMANTAKA

Crystal Yamantaka is a trance, chill-out and dub night, run by Cash, Ash and Hamish for the past two years. It was borne out of our mutual desire to put on an event, not just a night of our favourite music. This means a lot of effort is put into decorations, stalls and treats for those who come, for example fruit and sweets for all!

The word 'yamantaka' means a budhist deity who conquered death, and this was very apt at the time as Hamish's father had recently been diagnosed with cancer.

The music policy has always been to bring a top dj's to Leeds, backed up by friends and aquaintances trying to make their way into the scene. Every night starts with progressive in the main room, which turns a little harder and faster as the night goes on - this is to give the whole night a more rounded feel.

The artists that we have had grace our stage include Dick Trevor, Ans (nano), Marcello VOR (neurobiotic), Spencer (alchemy), Nick Tripswitch (LSD), OTT (Twisted), with the list to be joined on May 12th by Shane Gobi (alchemy), Edoardo (neurobiotic/sonica) and Kuba (LSD).

The 12th May was our last regular event in the West Indian Centre, Leeds; as Cash, Ash and Hamish are moving to other places, and will undoubtedly be taking Crystal Yamantaka wherever they go!
