The Seasonal
Soap Opera
Le
Sean O’Laoghaire
Sean O’Laoghaire grew up in a house full of
stories, laughter and high jinks and has been able to
translate this upbringing into his very creative and
unusual style of work! He has been storytelling, performing
and a puppeteer for ten years, and has finally put together
his finest, quirkiest and most popular piece of work,
for public consumption.
Sean has worked in and toured many parts of Ireland,
from Kerry to Donegal, from Clonakilty to Cliften. He
has also worked in England over the last couple of years
and recently appeared on the TG4’s chat show “Ardan”,
performing his puppet show ”seo don gach aimsir”
This is a puppet show with a difference; it is a Soap
Opera, encompassing the four seasons, the environment
and wildlife, the weather, the Irish language, Celtic
folklore, human relationships, comedy and Sean’s
own life. The story is always moving and changing with
the time of year it is being performed in.
It is a huge success with both young and old; it’s
a real family show with a difference, something for
everyone of any age.
The show at the moment, is concerned with spring trying
to get the throne from winter, who has polaria (a nasty
piece of wind) on his side. Meanwhile cockie and hen
are arguing about whether to build a nest or not and
fox suffering from S.A.D. syndrome!
Will it be winter forever?
Will the fox get better?
Only you can find out……
